Vandals use rods to damage town bowling green

MINDLESS: Metal rods have been used to damage the bowling green in the grounds of The Bowes Museum

Barnard Castle Bowls Club
VANDALS have been branded “cretins” after using a metal rod to damage the bowling green in the grounds of The Bowes Museum.
Members of the club have put in hours of hard work to get the green looking its best for the much anticipated return of the sport as Covid restrictions ease.
The club’s John Tallentire said there had also been instances of graffiti on the back of the clubhouse.
“This is what some cretins do in their spare time.
“Hours of work are put in to get the green and surrounding area looking immaculate only for it to be ruined by the mindless few. No doubt the same children are responsible for the other damage that has been done in the grounds.”
Mr Tallentire said there was also evidence of drug taking.
