It follows a major operation yesterday (March 7) when the B6282 road was closed by police at about 4pm.

Residents reported seeing armed police and a police helicopter was also seen in the area. There was a heavy police presence and a police dog van parked outside two houses on the approach to Middleton yesterday when the road was reopened.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “We have attended a property on the B6282, just outside”¨ Middleton-in-Teesdale, and executed a warrant at that address.
