Geriatric and the Pacemakers are spanning the generations

ROCK OF AGES: Front from let

ONLY six months after forming the unusually named group, Geriatric and the Pacemakers, a band whose

members’ span the generations, are taking Teesdale by storm.

The five-piece band, which plays cover versions and original songs, have already played at several charity events including last month’s It’s a Knockout, in Barnard Castle, and on Saturday were first on stage at Barnard Castle Cricket Club’s annual Big Day Out.

The group’s younger members, Ethan Mangers and Finlay Hunton, both 15, play lead guitar and bass guitar, with lead vocals provided by Mackenzie Kellett.

The “geriatrics” of the group – Anthony “Scouse” Griffiths, 71, and David Harper, 54, – complete the line up.

Their first big gig was at the cricket club last month, when they entertained guests at a sporting evening.

He added the band, which plays a diverse range of songs from George Ezra to Tina Turner, started as an acoustic group.
