Police attended a fatal collision near Toft Hill

A PERSON died and two others injured in a two-vehicle collision near Toft Hill.

Police were called to the crash on the B6282 at about 11.15am on Wednesday, February 19.

The road was closed in both directions between Nettlebed Lane and the A68 for several hours to allow investigators to examine the scene.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service also attended.

A police spokesperson said: “Sadly, the driver of a black Peugeot 207 was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A man and a woman in a white Kia Ceed were taken to hospital for treatment.

“Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are keen to speak to witnesses who have not already contacted police or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident and both vehicles before the incident occurred.”

Anyone who can help the investigators can email SCIU@durham.police.uk quoting incident number 122 of February 19.
