Crew Clothing to open in Barnard Castle

Crew Clothing is set to be the latest addition to Barnard Castle’s high street.

The popular clothing brand has acquired the old Teesdale Mercury shop at 24 Market Place, Carver Commercial Estate Agent confirmed.

Progress is already underway to convert the premises into a clothes store, and applications for a new store manager have now closed.

Elsewhere, work is continuing to prepare the former Holland & Barrett site at 31 Market Place, with news about its future expected soon.

Confirmation of Crew Clothing’s arrival continues the positive trend of new businesses coming to Barnard Castle.

Last month saw Freja’s Home and Inglenook Wine Bar open on The Bank. And, at the start of January, My Brow Expert gave a glow-up to 9 Horse Market.

Crew Clothing began in 1993 in Salcombe, Devon. Designer Alastair Parker-Swift, who was running a windsurfing school in the village, was inspired to create a collection of clothes that captured the spirit of the British coastline.

Since then the company has expanded nationwide. The Barnard Castle branch fills a gap in the chain between its stores in Northallerton, Dalton Park and Hexham.

At present, Crew Clothing cannot confirm an opening date for the Barnard Castle store.
