Barnard castle Town Council’s unreserved apology to ex-deputy clerk and electorate

UNRESERVED APOLOGY: Barnard Castle Town Council has said sorry to former deputy clerk Jane Woodward

TOWN councillors have apologised to their former deputy clerk after an employment tribunal judged they had unfairly dismissed the official.

The town council discussed the decision behind closed doors after barring press and public from the January meeting.

In a statement issued four days later, Barnard Castle Town Council said it “accepts the findings from the employment tribunal case” .

The council added: “It has been a difficult time for all concerned, and the council offers its unreserved apologies to Mrs Woodward and the electorate of Barnard Castle.
“The council will now be looking to carry out a complete review of its policies and procedures in relation to all future staffing matters.”
