Banter and breakfast is on the cards as a trial of a new men’s club gets under way early in the new year.
The Blokes Breakfast and Banter Club is the brainchild of Teesdale Day Clubs which says that while there is a lot in the dale for women to do, there isn’t much for men alone.
Amanda Raine, of Teesdale Day Clubs, said: “We also know that it’s less easy for some of you men out there to feel OK about those more organised groups.
“And we know that that doesn’t mean you don’t get lonely and start to feel a bit isolated once work and other activities you used to do start to dry up, or become more difficult to take part in.
“If you are feeling a bit house-bound, and that winter cabin-fever gets you down, come along and join us. Let’s be clear – this club is not just for old men, single men, or farmers… it’s for all men who find themselves feeling a bit isolated, low in mood, and sometimes just wish there was somewhere to go to have a chat about man stuff.
“If you know of someone in this position, tell them and encourage them to come along.”
The breakfasts will be hosted by popular Owen Moody, one of Day Clubs’ most experienced lunch club chefs, and the gatherings will be all about keeping it simple, having an opportunity for some informal banter, whilst enjoying a freshly prepared breakfast bun with a hot drink.
The six-week trial gets underway at Romaldkirk Reading Room each Monday from January 12, between 9am and 10.45am.
