Annual study day planned by Northern Dales Richard III group

STUDY DAY: Members of the Northern Dales Richard III Group with the tote bags produced for this year's study day

A GROUP which formed following the discovery of the lost remains of one of Britain’s most maligned monarchs, Richard III, have put together another study day devoted to the last king to die in battle.

The Northern Dales Richard III Group was formed in 2013 after the remains of the Plantagenet king were discovered beneath a car park in Leicester.

Richard III had a long-standing connection, with Barnard Castle having come into his personal possession through his marriage to Anne Neville.

On Saturday, October 5, a number of speakers will put forward varying aspects on his life.

They include Yvonne Morley-Chisholm, Dr Toby Capwell, Dr John Sadler and Matthew Lewis who will provide food for thought on The Real Field of Battle, The Skeleton and Certain Practicalities at Bosworth, The War in the North 1461-1464, The Survival of the Princes in the Tower and A voice for Richard.

Tickets to the study day, which is being held at the St Mary’s Parish Hall in Barnard Castle, are £25 and £20 for those in full time education. (Additional £5 for a buffet lunch).

The group has also produced a tote bag to sell for the occasion.
