Rare chance for farm tenancy in Forest-in-Teesdale

A rare 15-year farm tenancy has become available.

Ash Dub Farm, in Forest-in-Teesdale, includes a traditional three-bedroom farmhouse along with about 143 acres of meadow and pasture land.

The Raby Estates-owned farm also includes sheep rights for a maximum of 90 ewes on Ettersgill Common.

The farm is being marketed by Savills.

A spokesman for the company said: “The farmhouse requires some works to modernise, these are to be agreed between parties during the letting process and may mean the farmhouse is let later than the land, buildings and hefted flock.

“Behind the house there is a useful stone building comprising coal store, storage room and garage building which currently houses a diesel tank.

“A suite of traditional stone buildings sits just up from the house to the right of the track, comprising two cow byres, hog house and loose house, all with concrete floors, water and electric.

“Tin hay barns have been added to these buildings, these have earth floors and no services.

“A modern five-bay steel portal framed barn with concrete floor, water and electric sits behind the house.

“An additional stone building known as ‘the sheep house’ is accessed from the field to the right of the yard. There are no services to this building.”
